movie screening 'Hamlet'

         Kenneth Branagh’s movie ‘Hamlet’ is very faithful to the original play. Movie follow sequence of original play. Most of dialogues are taken from shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet’. Most of movie similar to original play. But then even director made some changes in movie.

           In beginning of the movie statue of Hamlet is a different from original work. In movie it is very symbolically taken, when movie start it is stand very peridly,it shows power of Hamlet and their family on Denmark. But end of the movie it is fall in down Hamelt’s whole family destroyed. In movie Director give more important to Ophelia’s character. In original play Opheila present as miner character. But in movie Director more focus on her character and represent her emotion very deeply.

           When Hamlet take revenge and murdered his uncle it is aesthetic delight for me. Every time Hamlet adjourned to take revenge. Some were I feel that he cannot take revenge but finely he done it.

             I feel catharsis when Hamlet meet his father’s ghost, because before this scene he already suffer from two things, first is his mother getting marriage with his uncle in very short time, second is his father’s death. This two things he can digest before it his father ghost comes and says that his death s not natural but murdered by his uncle. During this time his mental situation is very deficit. This condition creat catharsis. 

            Before screening of movie my imagination about play is different and many of pint is not clear in my mind but after screening movie lot of things are clear .

        Hamlet mental situation I cannot cherish my life time. Hamlet didn’t faithful with his mother , Ophelia and his father also. Mentally he can’t handle whole situation. He can’t focus on Ophelia and his mother love. And to take revenge also he can’t good job because he live in conflict between “ to be or not to be”. He is not faithful any particular things in my point of view he is fail in his life.                  

robinson crouse as subaltern novel

v   Subaltern theory means a marginalized group. It can use very different way like heathen ,social discrimination, gender, culture etc this theory we can apply on’ Robinson Crouse’ also. Let’s see that how can we apply this theory on’ Robinson Crouse’.

                                         In the novel Crouse is the central character. But if we change the center and took the central character as a Firday, so, it is a good situation for  subaltern theory. Subaltern theory means a marginalized group. It can use very different way like heathen ,social discrimination, gender, culture etc. T

v  Friday is an African man ,he is black man and Crouse is white man. Here colour is the symbol of their social status. Crouse is powerful man and other side Friday is marginalized. In Island Crouse save the life of Friday and he live with him. Friday cannot understand language of Crouse. In novel he has no much dialogue, he is speechless person. But his silence say every things. Crouse try to teach English Language to Friday, here we can see deep symbol. LANGUAGE is our IDENTITY, if we accept other’s language it’s mean we are surrender in that person. When Fridey and Crouse meet , Crouse behave like a friend but than slowly, slowly he become master of Friday. It is indirectly symbol of English people and colonized people. Friday is nonchristian,here he is heathen. Crouse learnt him Christian’s rules, how Christian live and every thing about Christian. Indirectly Crouse try to convert Friday into Christian.

                             In my point of view this is whole situation like “colonized India”. Britisher’s comes India only for business but than they  colonized us. During this time they force people to learnt their ENGLISH LANGUAGE, now a days even we can see craze of English Language. Our language is our own identity but than even people give importance to English Language more then our language. During those time people like to be Christian. They proved their self to speak English rather than their language.

                                  This is not only condition of India but all the colonized country’s condition. So we can see here that Crouse is a symbol of colonizer and Friday is a symbol if colonized people.
