(1) What would you like to be? Educated? . . . or Uneducated?
(2) What do you think about educated person and uneducated person?
(3) Would you like to live life as educated person or not?
(4) Which life do you think is better?
First of all, please think about the possible answers on these questions. No need to give answer. Just thin l about it.. Well, I do not have any concern with these questions. Usually, people like to get education. But today I am remembering one of the character from Mahabharat Sahdev. He was a very knowledgeable person. He has capacity to know about future. His knowledge becomes his cures. He knows that his entire family is going to die in war. He and his brother have to fight with his own family members. His wife insulted by his cousins. But he cannot do anything because he can ‘only’ know things from his knowledge but he cannot share his knowledge. So his knowledge has become his own enemy.
This same situation is face by Asmita also. Asmita is now doing M.A. in English. She is brilliant girl. She is interested in reading books and then criticised it. She was applying various theories on it and then evaluated book. She habituated to view the world from critical point of view. She is used to write a blog also. This reading, contemplating, writing – developed her understanding. Like Sahdev, her knowledge becomes her enemy. She raises questions on everyday happenings, especially on feminism. She is a dancer also. In her dance class some short cloths are not allowed. Up till now she has no problem with that but after her understanding developed, she became critical of it.. Girls and boys are dance together that is the reason that they are not allowed short cloths. Even Jeans are not allowed. But why girl should stop this thing? Why are they not doing anything against such patriarchal systems in the society? She started raising questions. But our society does not allow a girl to ask this type of questions. It was a confined role that girl should not have short cloths. So she has to sacrifice with her dance class. She is forced to leave that dancing-class.
Up-till now she has no any problem with that because she doesn’t know about woman’s marginalization, patriarchal ideologies and feminism. Here, her knowledge becomes a curse for her.
Up till now she happily enjoyed every moment and everything in her life but now she can’t because she got knowledge about society, culture, religion and how it operates in favour of patriarchy and for confining women in socio-cultural-religious bounds. Which chain, society, or culture she is enjoining also and, she things that it was a freedom for her but now she comes to know that this was not freedom but jail. Had she remained uneducated! This society would have been more beautiful to her. She used to enjoys this situation a lot. And maybe she feels that she is happiest and lucky one in this world. So here knowledge becomes enemy for her. In our life also illiteracy is some time work as a blessing and knowledge is like a curse. Somebody has rightly said: “Ignorance is bliss”. I would confirm, “Knowledge is curse.” Too much education or knowledge is sometimes harmful. Now, once again think about those questions with which I started. . . .
